Horseback riding is a great way to get into the back country and visit areas that you wouldn’t normally see when on vacation travel rides. Horses have a unique personality just like other animals (and people!). When you stay calm, the horse stays calm.
When horseback riding for vacation travel in New Zealand remember to only take the essentials. You need to leave at home your extras. You can take a cell phone and a jacket, but make sure the jacket is easily rolled up and light weight. A hat is also a good idea. Take water and snack foods such as energy bars or dried fruit and nuts. Leave your food that needs to be warmed at home, leave your heavy books and unnecessary items at home.
Keep in mind the ease of packing and unpacking, and also the horse. Make sure you have a proper backpack or saddle type bags. Leave your heavy luggage or excessive packs at home. You should have good sturdy shoes or boots that will keep your feet secure in the stirrups. Leave your sandals and flimsy shoes that can’t get wet at home.
Enjoy the ride and the fresh aire, and leave unncessary items at home.
